At a Skin you can go for treatment of all types of edema. The treatment of edema is often intensive started with twice a week. Over time, the number of treatments being phased out.

Edema therapy usually consists of several parts:

Manual lymph drainage (MLD):

Manual lymph drainage is a superficial form of massage. This massage stimulates the inclusion and removal of tissue fluid through the lymphatic system.

Edema & Fibrosis Handles:

Edema and fibrosis handles are special grips that are applied in the case of hardened tissue (fibrosis). It is a deeper form of massage.

Endermologie/LPG:

Endermologie is a therapy that is performed with a LPG device. With the LPG device is the skin and the underlying tissue. That happens with some cylinders that the skin lifting and unreeling. This promotes blood circulation, stimulates the drainage of lymph fluid and softens scarred and other fibrotic, hardened tissue.

Intermittent Pneumatic compression (IPC):

By means of a pump (lymfapress) and cuffs to an arm or leg is compression applied on the limbs. This increases the blood flow and the removal of tissue fluid.

Lymph taping:

Lymph tape can be applied in addition to edema therapy. It is a special tape that with stretch applied to the skin. The skin layers are lifted in relation to each other, making the removal of tissue fluid.

Lymfapads:

These are pads with texture that work under the pressure of a bh or they can be applied under a bandage. The lymfapads provide massage in the tissue at movement. This causes the lymph fluid transported and fibrosis, scars and other hardened tissue eased.

Wound care:

When a client has, in combination with edema wounds, we treat both the wound as the edema in the same treatment. We do this through the wound to take care of, ambulatory to apply compression therapy and possibly to put the lymphapress in

Scar treatment:

If a scar gives complaints such as pain, itching, redness, thickening and adhesions can this be treated with special massage, endermologie/LPG device, lymph taping and silicone plasters. This allows a possible movement restriction are treated, the wound healing process and the visual aspect can be improved.

Ambulatory compression therapy:

Ingezwachteld is an arm or leg in compression therapy with bandages. This therapy is mainly meant to the result achieved during the treatments to preserve and prevent fluid accumulation returns.

Therapeutic elastic stockings:

Motion opinions:

If a client has a reduced mobility, what we often see in the armpit area at (ex-) breast cancer clients, we can give movement exercises. When a client comes in movement or remains at home is the result of our oedeemtherapie stimulated.

Lymphedema

The lymphatic system is a cleaning and immune system consisting of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes. They take up and implement this tissue fluid. When Lymphedema is a disorder in the lymphatic system. This means that tissue fluid and proteins in the skin may remain. Lymphedema is distinguishable in primary and secondary lymphedema.

At primary Lymphedema the complaints arise because the lymphatic system at birth is not properly laid out and/or not functioning properly. The complaints may during the birth or shortly thereafter all visible, but also later in life occur.

At secondary Lymphedema is a damage from outside, such as a surgical procedure, infections, radiation therapy or other injuries.  The lymphatic system is functioning inadequately, making complaints directly or over time.

Venous edema

At venous edema, there has been a failure in the venous system (veins).  The edema in the legs (usually around the ankles) because the valves in the veins do not function properly, for example in the case of varicose veins and thrombosis.  This reduces the flow of blood and the fluid drain obstructed and act on complaints (fluid retention).

Lipedema

Lipedema literally means fat and fluid accumulation. There is a disorder in the production of fatty tissue. Because there is increasing fat cells can over time also the removal of tissue fluid through the lymphatic system. This creates a subcutaneous accumulation of fat and moisture.
